Although the prefecture is suffering from a large number of corona spreading, Shimane has entered a national holiday season called Golden Week. The holidays of this year have no-limitation since 2020 when the pandemic spread.
According to Sanin Chuo Shinpo newspaper, a most published local newspaper in Shimane, it said these unrestricted holidays would allow more tourists from urban areas and people associated with the prefecture to visit Shimane than in the previous two years.
However, Shimane governor Tatuya Maruyama requested his residents not to cross the prefectural borders for fear that the number of corona patients would increase.
The golden week holiday will end on May 8th.
