World Masters Games 2027 Kansai

From May 14 to May 30, 2027, the World Masters Games will take place across the Kansai region. This international event welcomes sports enthusiasts generally aged 30 and over, with a target of approximately 50,000 participants from around the world.

Tottori Prefecture
, located in Western Japan along the beautiful Sea of Japan coast, will host four major sports: Archery, Cycling, Judo, and Ground Golf. The excitement of competition, historic hot springs, exceptional cuisine, and abundant natural beauty combine to create a truly special experience.

One of Tottori’s signature venues is Shiokaze no Oka Tomari in Yurihama Town. It will host the ground golf events. There, the sea breeze carries the quiet, welcoming atmosphere of San-in to the world.

About the Games

What is the World Masters Games
The World Masters Games is an international multi-sport event for sports enthusiasts aged 30 and over. It began with the first Games in Toronto in 1985. Organized by the International Masters Games Association (IMGA), it is held every four years. Unlike the Olympics, participants can generally compete without selection in most sports. Specific age requirements and entry qualifications vary by sport.

Host regions: Fukui, Shiga, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, Nara, Wakayama, Tottori, and Tokushima Prefectures, plus Kyoto City, Osaka City, Sakai City, and Kobe City
Target participants: 50,000 — 30,000 domestic, 20,000 international

Experience Tottori

The birthplace of ground golf
Ground golf was born in 1982 in Yurihama Town, formerly Tomari Village. Playing at the birthplace, Shiokaze no Oka Tomari, holds special meaning for enthusiasts—a pilgrimage to the sacred grounds where this beloved sport began.

Enjoy fresh seafood from the Sea of Japan, Tottori Wagyu, and local sake, then relax in the renowned hot springs of Misasa Onsen and Kaike Onsen.

Early entry opens at 10:00 a.m. (JST) on Wednesday, January 14, 2026.

Entry guidance will be sent by email to the following groups:

Those who received refunds when the 2021 Games were canceled
Those with previous participation in the World Masters Games
Those who registered for the WMG information newsletter, and others

The following sports are still being coordinated and will not have early entry. Details will be announced once preparations are complete:

Orienteering, Sprint, and Forest
Rowing, entry scheduled to open March 2, 2026
Shooting, Clay, and Rifle
Swimming, Diving, and Artistic Swimming
Weightlifting, entry scheduled to open December 2026


General entry
opens at 10:00 a.m. (JST) on Monday, March 2, 2026. Registration will be available through the official website.

Entry closes on Sunday, February 28, 2027.

Basic fee
Residents of Japan: ¥15,000
International participants: ¥34,000


Multiple disciplines
Up to 5 disciplines: no additional fee
6th discipline onward: ¥2,000 per discipline
